Nook was born out of our shared frustration with the challenges of finding affordable, compatible living spaces. As avid travelers and young professionals, we understood the struggle firsthand. That's why we created Nook, the seamless solution to simplify roommate matching and accommodation booking. Our Story

Nadine, our co-founder, was desperately looking for a decent and affordable apartment after spending about two years being a digital nomad. All the apartments she liked were out of her freshly-out-of-uni budget, and she thought that it would be nice to share the place with a roommate, only she doesn’t know anybody looking for a place in the city.

On the train back to her hometown, she got an idea to solve this problem by creating an app that has never been done before. She then contacted her former classmate in uni, who is also an app developer, Nico. Hearing Nadine’s pitch, he didn’t think twice, and jumped into the boat to build the app together with her and became her technical co-founder. The journey began by research - user interview - development - testing - analyzing feedback - development and that continued as a loop.

They quickly found out that this app is the solution many people have been waiting for. Everyone, from digital nomads to students and young professionals, is facing the challenges of the housing crisis. While the joke about young people not being able to afford a home has been around for a while, now they are also struggling to rent a decent place in urban areas.

Stephen joined a few months after when they decided they needed a seasoned back end developer. He was another classmate who had worked on several projects together with Nadine and Nico back in university. All three of them are tirelessly working everyday to ensure that everyone who will use the app can find their homes, in the form of people and places.
